Vernon Canadian Reformed Church

About Us

We are Canadian meaning that God has placed us in this beautiful country with the calling to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, to live as respectable citizens and to promote the coming of God's Kingdom. We are Reformed meaning our roots go back to the great Reformation (1500's) when God caused his church to return to the fundamentals (namely: Scripture alone, faith alone, grace alone) of the Christian faith. We are Church meaning a gathering or community of people who believe in, worship, and witness to the Triune God.

Why we call ourselves "Canadian Reformed"

Historically, we trace our roots to the time of the Great Reformation in the 16th century. This reformation was led by such men as Martin Luther, John Calvin, Ulrich Zwingli and John Knox who reaffirmed the truths of the Bible.

Why we call ourselves "Church"

What is the chruch? It is a gathering and community of true Christian believers.
Who gathers the church? The Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
How does He gather it? By using the Word (Bible) and the Holy Spirit.
Why does He gather it? That people may receive salvation, inherit eternal life and live to God’s glory.

This church preaches and teaches the true and complete message of the Bible.
This church administers the sacraments (the Lord’s Supper and Baptism) as Christ commanded.
This church requires its members to conduct themselves as the Bible teaches and deals fairly but firmly with those who lead unchristian lives.
